"Being Irish, I decided to choose one of the many goddesses native to this small island - the mighty Morrígan, meaning 'phantom queen'. Like many Celtic deities she exists in a myriad of forms being seen as both a trinity and singular in nature.
Here I depict her in her common role as a war goddess prior to her metamorphosis into the 'Badb Catha' (Battle Raven)." - Glyn Smyth
About Glyn Smyth
Glyn Smyth is an illustrator, designer and printmaker from Ireland. Whilst his illustration is often associated with underground metal bands, his work is chiefly informed by interests within the fields of folklore, myth and magick. His artwork has been featured in several books on illustration as well as in various art, music and esoteric journals. He has exhibited and sold prints in the UK, Ireland, Europe and the United States. He currently resides in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
